Result-Asia-Pacific Partners Meeting – collaboration for ecosystem restoration and a sustainable future

On October 1, 2025, RDF took part in the regional meeting of partners of the Restoration Initiative for Asia-Pacific Network (RAIN) that brought together representatives from 20 countries and more than 40 organizations working to restore degraded lands and strengthen ecosystems across the Asia-Pacific region.

The discussions during the regional meeting focused on collective action, knowledge exchange, and advancing an ecosystem-based approach. Partners emphasized the importance of collaboration between governments, research institutions, and civil society to promote locally led and equitable solutions rooted in traditional knowledge and modern innovation.

Regional Ecosystem Restoration Platform (ERP) of the International Land Coalition (ILC) in Asia, hosted by the Rural Development Fund (RDF) in Kyrgyzstan, continues to play a significant role in fostering partnerships within the RAIN network.

ERP brings together 19 organizations from Central, South, and Southeast Asia, promoting ecosystem restoration, sustainable land governance, and the protection of Indigenous and local community rights. The platform actively advances women’s leadership and community participation in decision-making, emphasizing equality, inclusiveness, and shared responsibility.

ERP’s membership in the RAIN network has strengthened connections between local initiatives and global processes, amplifying the voice of civil society and facilitating the exchange of practical knowledge and experiences across the region. This collaboration represents an important step toward the shared goal of restoring 100 million hectares of land by 2030.

Looking ahead, partners are preparing for new joint actions under the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, where their united efforts will continue to shape sustainable, inclusive, and living landscapes for all.

The regional meeting was conducted in online format.
