It should be noted that Maria Azhunova arrived in Kyrgyzstan last week to take part in the event, which brought together the most prominent representatives of the Kyrgyz El Akyl Kazyna community from all over the republic.

A seminar was organized especially for the leaders of the pastoral network, aimed at providing additional skills in social media (content creation, management of social media accounts, analytics and digital advertising), as well as in drawing up project applications for grant funds.

The event was held under the slogan “Keep up” and was aimed at preserving the work of the unique pastoral network, increasing the potential of its leaders, and involving the younger generation for further effective communications.

As for the Land of the Snow Leopard (LOSL) network, its representatives help to appreciate the Snow Leopard both as a keystone species and as a totem animal with profound religious, cultural, and ecological significance. They view the threat to Snow Leopards as both a biological loss and a loss of ancient moral reference points. Therefore, the network provides a unique approach to community-based snow leopard conservation blending Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Western conservation science. It is an inspiring example of a multinational collaboration working together in majestic mountain regions such as the Pamirs in Tajikistan, the Tien Shan in Kyrgyzstan, and the Altai and Sayan Ranges in Mongolia and the Russian Federation.
