RDF Participation in the Asian Land Forum: “Human Resource-Based Land Management: Ensuring Community Land Use Rights to Improve the Livelihoods of Local Communities.”


RDF will participate at the Asian Land Forum: “Human Resource Land Management: Ensuring the rights to use communal land to improve the livelihoods of local communities” in September, 2017.

More than 100 delegates of the International Land Coalition (ILC) from Italy, India, Pakistan, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Philippines, Nepal and Kazakhstan, as well as members of the Supreme Council of Kyrgyzstan, representatives of Kyrgyz governments and state institutions, scientists, and representatives of non-governmental and farmer organizations are expected to attend this once-a-year international assembly.


This platform will provide an opportunity to discuss the results and objectives for implementing initiatives of local communities in Asia, including land reform and existing problems in land policy in the Central Asia, as well as to exchange ideas on existing best practices and strengthen cooperation within ILC in Asia.


The forum will take place from 12 to 15 September, 2017. On the first day of the forum, participants will gather at the Damas Hotel on Zhumabek St. in Bishkek, and the delegates will go on a field tour in the Issyk-Kul region to visit sites of advanced farming practices with sustainable pasture management and horticulture development. They will also visit the Kyungay Ala-Too mountain forests to study the sustainable forest management practices.


The assembly is organized by the Kyrgyz Association of Forest and Land Users (KAFLU) and the International Land Coalition (ILC) with the support of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation of the Kyrgyz Republic, the National Association of Pasture Users, “Kyrgyz Zhaity”, and the Mountain Partnership.
