Project: "Improving Management of the Chychkan Gorge in Kyrgyzstan".


The project aims to encourage local communities to participate in decision-making processes and aspects of development policy. The project is implemented in the Toktogul district of the Jalal-Abad region of the Kyrgyz Republic. The pilot site is the Chychkan Gorge.
The project launching seminar was held on March 22-24, 2022 in the city of Toktogul, where representatives of Toktogul State Administration, Jany Jol okmotu, Toktogul Forestry, representatives of the business community and municipal enterprises, pasture users, forest users, beekeepers took part. The event was organized by the initiators and implementers of the project, the Public Fund "Rural Development Fund" and the Country Office of the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia ("CAREC") in Kyrgyzstan, with the participation of representatives of the State Forest Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.
At the start-up seminar, information on project goals and objectives, planned project activities and indicators were presented, and problems related to the ecological condition of the Chychkan Gorge were discussed.
