Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on "Sustainability of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Face of the COVID-19 Pandemic"

We are glad to share with you the news that the Director of RDF Kuluipa Akmatova took part in the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference "Sustainability of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the context of pandemic COVID-19", which was held from July 27 to 29, 2023 in Japan, in the city of Osaka.
The global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak has led to difficulties in all spheres of human life. In the face of a pandemic that has limited human interaction, intangible cultural heritage (ICH) has been affected in a variety of ways, as people play a central role in ensuring the viability of ICH.
Recognizing this growing interest in ICH, IRCI (The International Research Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region) has developed a research project "Study of ICH affected by the COVID-19 pandemic" in 2021 to study the impact of COVID-19 on the practice, transmission and protection of ICH in collaboration with nine research organizations and scientists from Bangladesh, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Korea and Fiji.
IRCI organized the conference to conclude research activities and discuss the overall impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on ICH in the region, to gain a broader understanding of the intangible cultural heritage during the epidemic, and the impact on the post-covid period.
Director of RDF Kuluipa Akmatova made a presentation on the results of field research on "Study of intangible cultural heritage affected by COVID-19 pandemic in the context of medicinal plants, 2021".
