RDF’s three-day training for members of Kyrgyz el Akyl Kazyna

The project team of traditional knowledge provided training sessions for members of the pastoral network, Kyrgyz el Akyl Kazyna (KEAK), from 9 to 11 of January, 2015. Representatives of KEAK from 3 regions of Issyk-Kul, Chui, and Talas took part in these trainings.

The purpose of the training

  • Introduction of KEAK’s structure to new memebers,
  • Basic knowledge in fundraising,
  • Trainings on using internet programs for information exchange,
  • Trainings on using video-,photo- and audio players for gathering traditional knowledge.

During the training, each participant shared their own experiences. They discussed results and projects with other KEAK’s members. Participants shared their path on how and why they became members of the network. They also noticed that, after joining KEAK, they gained motivation for personal and communal growth and prosperity. Janyl Baisheva, the head of an NGO, Altyn Ordo, and a member of KEAK from Issyk-Kul region said, “Before joining the network, we all worked separately, and when we become members of one network, we changed our vision. Now it is a great honor to be one of KEAK’s member”.

For new members, this training opened many new and interesting ideas. According to Kabay Ryskulbekov from Talas region, he had met allies who shared a general mission: Save our traditional knowledge. “I have remembered yurts from my childhood. My father taught me how to build them. Now I want to hand down my knowledge to young generations. At the training I have learned new communication tools, such as Skype and gmail, and learned to use photo and video devices. Now I understand how it is important to use new technology, because it facilitates the information exchange process. Thanks to RDF for providing these new skills.”
