RDF participated at the third Festival of Education held on April 24-25 2015. The event was organized by the International Public Foundation, Initiative of Roza Otunbayeva, the Town council in Bishkek, and Kyrgyz National Agrarian University. Many participants including the representatives from various government agencies, non-governmental organizations, businesses, university students and schoolchildren of Bishkek attended this event.
During the Festival of Education, RDF in conjunction with Kyrgyz El Akyl Kazyna (KEAK) presented traditional Kyrgyz eco-kitchen, traditional herbs, and felt products at an exhibition. KEAK members shared their knowledge and provided visitors with a master-class in each of the areas. RDF also displayed a new handbook, “Our Forest”, which describes procedures for tree-planting and the characteristics of species of fast-growing trees.
This year’s festival was aimed at increasing the level of civic responsibility and establishment of ecological culture among the citizens of Kyrgyzstan. Children and young people were encouraged to keep cleanliness, preserve green spaces in the city, and create a favorable environment.
