Land of Snow Leopard Gathering 2025
In September 2025, RDF participated in organizing of the annual meeting of the members of the Land of Snow Leopard Network (LOSL) in the Chon-Kemin Valley of the Chui Region, Kyrgyzstan. The focus of the meeting was on shaping the strategic vision of the Network as a living framework for the future. New roles and functions were discussed, with a special emphasis on integrating youth into the Network. Participants also worked on a protocol uniting science and spirituality, including the use of technical tools such as camera traps within the sacred context of nature conservation and totemic species.
Since 2013, these gatherings have played a key role in strengthening the Network, bringing together Indigenous Cultural Practitioners from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, and Russia, country coordinators, and community members. The Network’s activities were launched under the guidance of Dr. Rodney Jackson, Founder of the Snow Leopard Conservancy, and his team. For four decades, his leadership in snow leopard conservation continues to inspire us and the world.
