Training in Issyk-Kul oblast within the framework of the UNDP GEF project

Dear friends, in continuation of previously published posts within the framework of the UNDP GEF project "Strategic Support to Local Communities that Protect and Manage Natural Areas", today we talk about how on March 29-31 we conducted a training for representatives of local communities in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region.

The training was attended by representatives from the Ak-Bulun Eco community (Ton district, Issyk-Kul region), the local community Tooluu Orun (Ton district, Issyk-Kul region), members of the local community of the Cholpon Aiyl Ukmutu (Kochkor district, Naryn region) ), the local community "Arashan" (Talas district, Talas region).

To conduct the training, experts on biodiversity conservation and mapping of natural areas, an advocacy specialist on cooperation with government agencies, local self-government bodies, business structures, and NGOs, as well as a public relations specialist were involved.


Participants shared the important events of each community, such as the creation of these communities from voluntary initiatives, they discussed issues involving young people, problems that concern them regarding the protection of natural areas, which is dear to them since childhood. Ideas, initiatives of each community were voiced, including the idea of ​​joining efforts to create a network of local communities that will protect natural areas in the regions of Kyrgyzstan.
