Workshop on Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity 2011

From 17 to 20 October in Istanbul, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity together with the Ministry of Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Turkey organized a regional workshop on biodiversity conservation.

The workshop aimed to strengthen national capacity to develop and update National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans, as well as their implementation at the national level within the framework of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity Conservation 2011-2020.

The workshop was also attended by representatives of Central Asian countries from various sectors - government agencies, public organizations, local communities, as well as experts in the field of biodiversity. They reviewed the goals and objectives of the Convention Protocol, analyzed the level of development and implementation of biodiversity improvement plans in different countries, and discussed the implemented actions and directions. They also exchanged experience to develop a preliminary strategic plan for the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity as a whole.

Akmatova Kuluipa, as a representative of RDF and public sector, spoke about RDF activities, implemented projects, interaction with communities and local opportunities. Participation in this event was a good opportunity for RDF not only to share knowledge and disseminate information about its activities but also to gain new experience and knowledge in the field of biodiversity in order to further strengthen and develop capacity in this area in Kyrgyzstan.
