Meeting with Schools on Traditional knowledge
RDF has conducted a meeting on September 28, 2013, in Chui Oblast Grammar School, village of Vorontsovka, Alameda district related to the "Dissemination of Kyrgyz traditional pastoral and ecological knowledge and support to the community on joint management of mountain ecosystems in the Kyrgyz Republic" Project. A meeting was held for teaching staff and parents of the students of the school.
The project coordinator in RDF Kuluipa Akmatova made a brief presentation on RDF, on initiatives to revitalize and disseminate traditional knowledge of Kyrgyz nomads. Project expert Tilekeeva Zhyldyz talked about how RDF works with educational institutions, in particular with pilot lyceums #28 (Belovodskoe village, Moscow district) and #81 (Bokonbaevo village, Ton district) for which 6 Methodological Guides were developed to introduce the knowledge of our ancestors accumulated over the centuries into the modern curriculum for farmers.
Jyldyz Tilekeeva supported the parents' initiative to include Kyrgyz traditional drink "Kuurma tea" (namely, introduction in the menu of the school canteen) in the diet of students of the school-gymnasium. Kuurma tea is simple and not expensive to prepare, and at the same time has many useful properties for the growing organism of children. The audience was very interested in the information provided by the project staff, a lot of questions were asked, the most important one being: how can we learn from the experience of the pilot lyceums.
