The aim of the project "Kyrgyz Traditional Ecological Knowledge as a Basis for the Protection of the Snow Leopard and its Habitat at the Local Community Level" is to conserve and increase the population of the snow leopard in Kyrgyzstan, improve its habitat through revitalization of Kyrgyz traditional knowledge and raising public awareness of rare species of animals of the Northern and Western Tien Shan with the involvement of local communities in their protection.
The project is funded by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, USA (SVCF) with advisory support from the Christensen Foundation, USA and will be implemented in Chui and Talas oblasts of the Kyrgyz Republic.
