ILC Asia Ecosystems Restoration Platform (ERP-ILC Asia)

RDF is a member of the ERP-ILC ASIA which includes a diverse range of organizations committed to promoting ecosystem restoration, conservation and sustainable land management practices. The platform consists of 18 members from the International Land Coalition in Asia.

The mandate of the platform is to advance and promote locally-led ecosystem restoration and conservation, with a particular focus on recognizing the land rights of indigenous people and local communities. The platform aims to facilitate policy advocacy, capacity building, fundraising, and the generation of community-led restoration and conservation initiatives. Its mandate also encompasses promoting inclusiveness and gender equity in managing, conserving, and restoring natural areas and ecosystems.

The platform's coverage geographically extends across Central, South, and South-East Asia. It brings together organizations from multiple countries in these regions, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange on ecosystem restoration and conservation strategies and approaches. The platform's members represent diverse local contexts and communities, enriching the discussions and actions toward ecosystem restoration, conservation and sustainable land management.

Several people's organizations are actively driving the ecosystem restoration and conservation agenda within the platform. The exact number of people's organizations may vary. Still, multiple member organizations within the platform represent the voices and interests of local communities, indigenous peoples, and other marginalized groups. Their participation ensures that the platform's initiatives and strategies are grounded in the realities and aspirations of those directly impacted by ecosystem degradation and restoration efforts.

The objectives of the platform for the 2023-2025:

•to highlighting the local and indigenous communities' stewardship of their resources

•to conduct research on women role in land use, management, conservation and restoration of natural areas and ecosystems

•to lobby for discussion of gender equality among national stakeholders and raise awareness of the role and potential of women in land use, management, conservation and restoration of natural areas and ecosystems

The Rural Development Fund (RDF) from Kyrgyzstan is the Host Organization for coordinating the platform until the end of the current strategy. The Host Organization has the capacity for grant management and funds disbursement. It meets the minimum capacity requirements set by the ILC, including appropriate organizational status and legal compliance. The Host Organization plays a regional coordinating role, disburses/receives funds, provides office and logistic facilities for the Facilitator's work and travels, and acts as an enabler of the platform and its strategy.
