From July 15-22, 2011, representatives of the Pastoral Network "Kyrgyz El Akyl Kazyna" participated in the First International Summer School, which was held in Kalmak-Ashu village, Chon-Kemin district, organized by the public foundation "Taalim-Forum".
The Summer School was attended by teachers, journalists, medics, ethnographers, ecologists, linguists, economists and sociologists from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kenya and Japan. Pastoral Network members participated in a session on yurt integrity and acted as facilitators in the training process.
At this event, the representatives of the Network actively shared their experience, demonstrating some of the customs and traditions related to the yurt, explaining what structures it consists of, what rituals exist before entering the yurt, practically demonstrating the ritual of burning the juniper, saying prayer words and involving directly all participants in this process.
