The COMDEKS Country Landscape Seascape Strategy and NGO Database
The COMDEKS Country Landscape Seascape Strategy and NGO Database
The Situational Assessment and Baseline Assessment conducted, within the first stage of the COMDEKS Phase 4, was based on the use of sustainability indicators, discussed during preliminary consultations and a Final Workshop with the participation of an expanded range of stakeholders. The Situational Assessment and Baseline Assessment provided an opportunity to collect information at the local level and analyse the main threats affecting the sustainability of landscapes, as well as to identify potential areas of work to strengthen the resilience of landscapes through the UNDP GEF Small Grants Program. As a result of the data analysis, the COMDEKS Country Landscape Seascape Strategy was prepared. A database of local organisations, NGOs and registered local communities that work on ecosystem conservation and biodiversity protection, equal and fair access to natural resources, educational projects and traditional knowledge was collected and compiled. Organisations and NGOs can be potential partners and recipients of small grants aimed at strengthening the sustainability of landscapes, conducting scientific, educational and outreach activities (ethno and eco-pedagogy), supporting local communities in diversifying income from the use of natural resources, collecting and documenting traditional knowledge, and introducing eco and ethno-tourism.
