The Community Development and Knowledge Management for Satoyama Initiative (COMDEKS) program aims to enhance landscape resilience and socio-economic development of local communities. To implement this program, it is proposed to develop a COMDEKS landscape and seascape strategy, which will be formulated based on a situational assessment that considers threats such as increased pressure on ecosystems from demographic and anthropogenic activities, unsustainable use of natural resources, non-rational natural resource management practices, poor diversification of agro-production systems, climate change impacts, degradation of resources and biodiversity, deterioration of socio-economic and ecosystem services, etc. The COMDEKS project's pilot landscape is the Issyk-Kul oblast's coastal territory.
As a result of the implementation of the Landscape and Seascape Strategy, it is planned to launch and implement locally-based activities through the Small Grants Program. The main beneficiaries will include public organizations, local NGOs and local communities.
