"Origins" Youth Fellowship Program in Traditional Arts and Knowledge

Youth Scholarship Program «Origins» - «Bashat»

The purpose and objectives of the program
● Search, development and support of young talented creative individuals;
● Revival of the best traditions, education of artistic taste;
● Strengthening professional cultural ties between creative teams and performers;
● Support, consultations and mentoring will be provided through the active involvement of elders, keepers of traditional knowledge, and leaders of local communities.

The program included the competition, which was held within the framework of the Bashat project in the field of traditional arts in support of the revival and development of cultural and spiritual heritage.

The purpose and objectives of the competition were:
1. search, development and support of young talented artists; revival of the best traditions and education of artistic culture;
2. strengthening professional cultural ties between creative teams and performers;
3. support, consultations and guidance will be provided through the active participation of elders, keepers of traditional knowledge and leaders of local communities.

As part of the scholarship program "Origins" in the field of traditional arts and knowledge From July 24 to 31, on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul, in the yurt camp "Bel-Tam", an international creative camp of indigenous youth was held.

The camp was attended by young people from Buryatia, Khakassia, Altai, and also from Kyrgyzstan, who during the week created films, musical compositions, animated videos, painted pictures, sewed costumes, came up with installations, handicrafts and all together worked on the creation of an art performance.

The participants listened to lectures by speakers, experts from various fields, discussed with them creativity, spirituality, traditions, modernity, art and much more.

There were also trips to sacred places, the artist's house, the Salbuurun center, to the Skazka canyon. This camp aimed to strengthen and preserve cultural and spiritual roots through young creative expressions/initiatives under the guidance and mentorship of traditional knowledge keepers.
